On Air DJs
JAKE THE RIPPER
Music is a universal language that brings us together. METAL music in particular has always been my favorite, it’s a massive library of a genre with a die-hard cult following. I’ve been listening to METAL music since the 5th grade and haven’t stopped since. Prior to creating the vision for OVERKILL RADIO, I was a student at San Antonio College and the host of KSYM 90.1 FM’s “Thursday Night Metal Show”. From playing thousands of killer tunes, to interviewing dozens of musicians, to having bands play live on the air, I did it all for over 3 years every week on that 3 hour show! It was the experience of a lifetime raising hell on the college airwaves in San Antonio, Texas! In addition, I was also the Assistant Program Director at KSYM. Post graduation, after some encouragement from friends, musicians, and listeners, I felt like it was a personal responsibility to bring talented, like-minded DJs together to create a new 24/7 platform for METAL music! For the longest time, a common complaint around San Antonio today was the lack of a 24/7 METAL radio station. Many south Texans are aware of San Antonio’s famous past of revolutionary radio DJs and once being nicknamed “The Heavy Metal Capital of the World.” Today, we are making that vision a reality all while creating a new legacy with OVERKILL RADIO! With METAL being our main format, we also feature the bonus addition of HARD ROCK and SYNTHWAVE music genres to further explore other tastes we like. I am very happy with the final product of what we’ve created for you. It’s exciting to not only share this platform with San Antonio, but the rest of the world! You can catch me here on OVERKILL RADIO as the host of “Jake The Ripper’s Metal Onslaught!”
Favorite Bands: Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Sodom, Toxic Holocaust, Celtic Frost, Motörhead, Venom, Black Jackal, Midnight, Eternal Champion, Visigoth, Enforcer, Acid Bath, Down, Pentagram, Woods of Ypres, Children of Bodom.

What’s going on Butcher Crew?! It’s ya girl, your Master Butcher, The Saw; and I am here to deliver the beatings on OVERKILL RADIO! Metal isn’t a hobby, it’s a lifestyle. I was born and raised on metal. My parents met in a mosh pit and my brothers and cousin have been in local bands since I was a little girl. Metal has always been there for me. My love for metal – and the heavier realm of the genre – grew stronger when I went to the Carolina Rebellion at 14, and my first Warped Tour (solo) at 16. My radio personality formed when I attended NC State University in Raleigh, North Carolina. Before I left for college, my dad told me that NC State had a radio station called WKNC 88.1 and that they played metal. Once I was on campus, I applied to become a DJ and that is when The Saw was born! The name The Saw comes from the song, “The Saw Is The Law,” by Whitechapel – one of my favorite bands. Soon thereafter, my on-air time evolved into an award-winning radio show – The Saw’s Butcher Shop® – where you are pummeled with the heaviest metal on the planet. My show is divided into different segments, aptly named to describe the brutally terrifying House of Horrors that it is. Within these segments, the slaughter plays-out in different genres (metalcore, hardcore, death metal, deathcore, slam, and black metal, etc.). When it’s all over but the cryin’, The Saw’s Butcher Shop will leave you hanging from a meat hook, begging to be six feet deep. And best of all, you can never get away! There is no exit!! You are forever stuck in The Saw’s Butcher Shop. How exciting! I look forward to seeing you in my Butcher Shop real soon. Get ready and be prepared, you are in for a long and painful ride.
Favorite Bands: Justice For The Damned, Boundaries, Cannibal Corpse, Obituary, Frozen Soul, Abominable Putridity, A Wake in Providence, Whitechapel, Devourment, and Benighted.

Born and raised on the northeast side of San Antonio, I first got into heavy music from my skater days at Roosevelt Highschool. A friend showed me Minor Threat and Metallica and so it began. I have a background as a radio DJ and a musician. Prior to joining OVERKILL RADIO I spun the thrash, crossover, & hardcore jams on my show at whatever68radio.net. I have also played guitar and done vocals in a few bands such as Attempt@Nothing and Sideline Rookies.
Favorite Bands: S.O.D., D.R.I., Dead Horse, Nuclear Assault, Death Angel, Slayer, Metallica, Grave, Obituary, Sepultura, Napalm Death, Cryptic Slaughter, NOFX, Pennywise, Face to Face, Confused, Killer Dismount.

DAN MAC & CHRIS MAC
The Shred Shack began in 2011 as a radio show and YouTube channel based on Long Island, New York. Dan joined by dropping in uninvited to the weekly radio show and contributing to the playlist and on-air banter. After nearly three years of co-hosting, Dan moved to San Antonio and began expanding the Shred Shack empire with a podcast co-hosted by his brother Chris. Ever-broadening their sights, the pair have made the move to Overkill Radio to not only air their biweekly podcast but also revive the radio show.
The elder of the brothers Mac, Chris' first experience with heavy metal came in the form of an extra cassette tape of Metallica’s “…and Justice for All” record given to him by a friend while still in single digits of age. After repeatedly having his mind blown by the ferocity of that record, he was hooked. From there, Chris began his collection of all forms of hard rock and heavy metal ranging from the architects of the genre (e.g. Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin) to the more modern era as he came of age, including the likes of Metallica, Pantera and Slayer. As Chris grew older and his musical palette expanded, he delved into more aggressive music in the form of extreme and death metal as well as progressive metal. For him, groove, complexity, atmosphere and concepts are all pivotal in searching for new music. While his all-time favorites may be classic bands like Metallica, Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden, he also ranks some modern bands like Opeth, Tesseract, Trivium and Behemoth very highly in the hierarchy.
Dan was engulfed in classic rock/heavy metal and 90s alternative metal before broadening his scope while working for Tower Records in the early 2000s. There began his descent into the various subgenres of metal, beginning with Power, Progressive and Neoclassical artists such as Edguy, Symphony X, Dream Theater, Zandelle, Ayreon, Devin Townsend and others before spreading out to the furthest roots and branches. Dan is one who believes all music deserves to be heard and does his best to keep his ear to the ground for material of any metal genre from far and wide to potentially play on the music portion of the radio show. To him, every artist or style is worth a chance.
As a collective, they have spent years accumulating vast collections of CDs, attending hundreds of live shows, playing their own music and talking up the finest in heavy metal. They have also contributed reviews, editorials, concert coverage and more to various sites, most frequently on the Shred Shack YouTube channel. Dan has taken to the name DJ Steelbeak in honor of the metaphor the entire Shred Shack crew exude: mouths made of metal.
